Alaska Geriatric Education Center
Committed to cultivating national and statewide affiliations that expand and enhance the public’s: Health Professionals, Faculty and University Students, Knowledge in the areas of Geriatrics, and more.
Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders
The University of Alaska Southeast staff will work with agencies to create a training that meets specific training needs for the care of people with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. UAS also provides a six-week distance delivered self-study course comprised of eight modules on ADRD.
Alaska Behavioral Health Assisted Living Home
Increase direct service staff and administrators' competencies and skill, decrease licensing investigations and increase the retention of direct service staff through professionally developed and led training.
Instructional Fellows
Become an Instructional Fellow by improving your instructional skills using distance delivery options for college level courses, workshops, and work-based trainings.
Brain Injury Education
- Every year the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports about 800 traumatic brain injury cases resulting in hospitalization or fatality. (Alaska Trauma Registry)**
- It is estimated that at least 10,000-12,000 Alaskans are currently living with brain injury. (TBI Needs and Resource Assessment, March 2003)

With these staggering statistics, it is crucial the workforce serving individuals who have a brain injury are well informed and trained. Thanks to funding from the Alaska Brain Injury Network and the State of Alaska Division of Seniors and Disabilities three exciting learning opportunities are available to paraprofessionals and professionals.
