The workforce for Trust Beneficiaries is educated and trained to support their communities and families across the life span.
Mission
The Trust Training Cooperative coordinates and provides training, education and career development opportunities for the current and future workforce engaged with Alaska Mental Health Trust Beneficiaries including:
- People with Mental Illness
- People with Developmental Disabilities
- People with Chronic Alcoholism
- People with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders
- People with Traumatic Head Injury Resulting in Permanent Brain Injury
Purpose
- To leverage and coordinate existing training resources
- To facilitate linkages to university programs to improve access to training
Background
There is a lack of access to education and training for agencies and their staff serving Trust beneficiaries, especially small agencies and agencies in rural areas of the state. As a result the workforce need is far greater than the availability of training and skilled workers.
Trust Workforce Initiative Vision
By 2015, Beneficiaries of the Alaska Mental Health Trust shall have access to a capable, culturally competent workforce to support their communities and families across the life span.
Funding
FY08 funds will be used to establish the co-op infrastructure:
- Work with stakeholders to develop training standards and core competencies
- Identify, coordinate and support training opportunities statewide
